Footwork, and good shoes, help fencing
The sport of fencing is all about footwork. Mobility is very important. It's hard to hit someone if you can't get to them.

Give a fencer the wrong type of shoe and theyd likely find it very difficult to play the sport the way it is intended to be played. Good fencing shoes won't win a match, but they allow the athlete to perform at their best. To perform at their best, fencers need the proper equipment for their sport, starting with the right shoes.
