About Samsung TV
Samsung TV offers so many options that it is nearly impossible to look at their entire line of TVs and not be impressed. They have come a long way in the last two decades or so to become one of the premiere brands on the market today.
To better understand the options that a Samsung TV offers and to get a clearer snapshot of the models offered, we have put together an overview of Samsung and its products. We will be doing a nice, broad "mini-review" of the Samsung TV line and discussing some of the better options that have set Samsung apart from some if it's competition.
Samsung TVs in the plasma department offer a wide variety of options as far as price and quality goes. The "low-end" TVs are the series 4 TVs. These are all under $1,000 and feature 42"-50" screens and 720p definition pictures. Technically this is the second generation of HDTV picture, but first in the hearts of many. In other words for the price, the picture is outstanding.
The best Samsung TV has to offer in the way of plasma is the series 8. These plasma TVs range in size from 50" to 58" and offer 1080p picture, the highest quality available. The price is a bit much from $4,000 down to the upper $2,000 range, but the quality speaks for itself.
The series 7 LED HDTV that Samsung TV produces is an exceptional TV with all the bells and whistles one has come to expect with Samsung. 1080p picture, screen sizes ranging from 46-55", internet connectivity and their own proprietary software for picture quality have made this a most popular series that is sure to not be outpaced substantially for some time.
The top of the line as far as LED HDTVs that Samsung TV has to offer are the series 8 models. These are a big jump in price- on average about $1,000. I really do not see the major differences between the two. Both series 7 and series 8 have roughly the same sizes available and offer 1080p picture. Series 7 offers a contrast of 30,000,000:1 verses series 8's 50,000,000:1 contrast. Is that contrast significant? Maybe to some, but the price significance is definitely noticeable to all.
The lower end of Samsung TV would be the LCD TVs. Traditionally, these models are lighter and thinner than the others without making your wallet lighter or thinner. They are a good value. The series 3 that Samsung has produced is a solid LCD TV at a solid value price in their series 3. The sizes range from $300 to about $600. These are 720p HDTVs though and while Samsung does a good job with them, they are what they are; a fast inexpensive fix. They are solidly made however and when the series came out, top of the line. The series 6 LCD HDTV that Samsung has put together is by far the best of the LCD TVs they produce. These monsters range in size from 42-65" and have a 1080p picture with a 100,000:1 contrast ratio; respectable for an LCD to say the least. Overall, for an LCD TV I'd give them a top rating.
When shopping for a new TV make sure that you know the difference between LCD with LED back lighting and straight on LED. The quality difference is astounding, as is the price difference. Whatever your budget or entertainment needs, Samsung most likely has you covered.
